Romans 10:8 KJV.
[8] But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
The Lips must be connected to the heart and the heart connected to the lips. Confessions can be made consistently without ever coming from one's heart, but that's not what we want.
How does faith get in the heart? When you hear the word preached, faith gets in your heart. Many have attempted to have a heart full of faith without their preacher but it cannot be done. The Bible says:
Romans 10:14 (ASV) How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
We need to hear the preacher, not just listen. The word of God gives us the ability to hear.
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Ro. 10:17
